The Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department received a call from Magnet Cove Public Schools earlier today in reference to suspicious activity by Oby Berry, a disgruntled employee of the school. Investigators were advised that over the last few months Berry had made accusations about a bus driver for the school and had fixated on the subject over the alleged incident. Oby was reprimanded over an incident involving expletory language toward a student at the school, as well. This morning while the bus driver was enroute to the school with children present on the bus, Berry stalked and attempted to stop the bus. The bus driver did not stop for Berry and the children were delivered to the school without further incident. Later, Oby arrived at the school with shoe polish on his face, which he told school officials was a Hawaiian cultural practice that he observes. He was asked to leave the premises and did so voluntarily. At that point, the school resource officer was contacted as well as the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department. School officials were advised by the Sheriff’s Office that it would be in the best interest of the safety of the students to lock down the school until he could be located and his mental welfare checked. School officials locked down the school and to ensure the safety of the students, deputies followed the bus involved in the incident on its transport home this evening. Upon further investigation, Sheriff's detectives ascertained information that a few days ago Berry had made the statement that he was in "killing mode." The Sheriff’s Department is searching diligently for Berry as he continues to blatantly elude law enforcement. If you have any information on this subject please contact The Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Department. When Berry is located we will advise the public.
